Named GP for all Patients
In order to comply with NHS guidelines, all patients registered at the Berinsfield Health Centre are allocated a named GP.
Due to Dr Claudia Jones’ retirement on 28th July 2017, all of her patients are being proportionally allocated to the Berinsfield Health Centre’s remaining GPs If you would like to know who you have been allocated to please call reception.
This does not affect the care you receive and you are still able to see the GP of your choice where possible.
If you would like to know the name of your Named GP please ask at the Reception desk.
Change to appointment times:
For the last year, GPs at Berinsfield Health Centre have offered 15 minute appointments in the afternoons only, rather than the usual 10 minutes. We made this change in recognition of the increasing complexity of GP consultations, and the need to allow sufficient time for patients with multiple or long term medical problems.
This scheme has been a success, and so we are pleased to announce that from 1st August 2015, all GPs will be offering 15 minute routine appointments as standard, during both morning and afternoon surgeries**. Pre-booked telephone appointments will be 7½minutes long.
If you think a 15 minute appointment may not be necessary (for example if it relates to a non-clinical enquiry, or a simple follow up for a single problem), then please feel free to explain your needs to our experienced reception team.
We intend these changes to improve patient care and patient satisfaction – as ever, we welcome your feedback about this or any other aspect of our service.
** In order to prevent this change from resulting in fewer available appointments, we have slightly extended doctors’ surgery hours (practice opening hours are unchanged), and one GP will be designated as responsible for all urgent care and appointments each morning (we already operate such a system in the afternoon).
The average pay for GPs working in Berinsfield Health Centre in the last financial year was £49,434 (2014-15: £44,642) before tax and National Insurance. This is for 1 full time GP and 5 part time GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.”
